The Right And Wrong

Nayana switched off the TV and got up from the living room. “It’s been two years since the whole world trapped under corona. When will this all be over?” She thought to herself while making her way through the kitchen. It is almost time to prepare the dinner. Ramesh like his meals hot, or else she won’t hear the end of it, who would not let his hand in any of the chores. She wondered why he won’t come inside the kitchen to help her with the chores. Also what is he doing sitting infront of that stupid laptop whole day long? Didn’t his office time ended by 5 pm? He must be watching movies or browsing random site. Couldn’t he just spend few minutes with his wife and help her with few chores??? She wished she was in Ramesh’s place where she could sit in front of the stupid computer all day and not worrying about the never ending chores. Muttering to herself she started with the dinner….

Everyone is busy dealing with their own problems during this pandemic. The above description is gimps of a typical housewife’s day. If we look at the same story from the point of her husband, it could go like the following

Ramesh closed his eyes shut for a moment. Sitting here in front of the computer desk, with no fixed working time is exhausting. The management thinks that since we are working from home, we are having a vacation, where they can schedule meeting or assignment at any point of time, including at midnight. It’s hours past his working time and the meeting is not over. Only after the meeting he could work on his other assignments.

He longed for the fixed working hours at office where he can leave his work at office and at home he can have some peace of mind. That was his me time. He wondered why Nayana is getting mad every time he ask for freshly prepared food. The rich aroma from the hot food, and its rich taste in his tongue are the one thing that help him relax. Thinking to himself he opened his eyes when he heard his email notification. Cursing the Corona Virus he dived back to his work, all the time wishing he was in his wife’s place where he don’t have to listen to the scolding of the management or worry about the deadlines and just sit at home idly doing work that does not need any thinking or time….

When reading though the stories, we can see that no one here is at the wrong end. Both of them are suffering and think that they are the one who suffer the most while the other one is having a leisure life. To think in a different way each character suffer more, not because of the work they have to do, but comparing themselves with the other person, thinking that they are having an easy life, and not doing anything to help them. It is not the person but our thoughts and understanding (misunderstanding) which led to suffering.

Openly communicate our thoughts with the other person, not to let our emotions (anger/sadness), or thoughts (anticipating negative outcome/ misunderstanding) get in the way we communicate and see how your life change for better.
