Payment Within 24 Hours: The full session fee must be paid within 24 hours of requesting an appointment.

As counselling appointments involve dedicated clinical time reserved exclusively for you, cancellations may affect others awaiting care. The following policy applies:
More Than 48 Hours' Notice
Cancel at least 48 hours before your appointment to receive a 100% refund or free rescheduling to a future date.
Less Than 48 Hours' Notice
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment incur a 25% late-cancellation fee. The remaining 75% will be refunded.
No-Show Policy
If you miss a confirmed appointment without prior written notice, or cancel only a few hours before the session, 50% of the session fee will be retained as a no-show charge. The remaining 50% will be refunded or credited toward a future session.
Credit Validity
Approved session credits must be used within 30 days of the original booking date. Unused credits expire after this period.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds are initiated promptly through our business account. Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take 5-7 business days for the amount to appear in your original payment method.
All information shared during counselling sessions at Athulya Counselling Services is treated as strictly confidential and protected by professional ethical standards. Your personal information, case records, and session discussions will not be disclosed to any third party without your written consent.
Exceptions to Confidentiality
In accordance with applicable laws and professional obligations, confidentiality may be breached without consent only in the following circumstances:
Risk of Harm
When there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to yourself or another identifiable person.
Abuse or Neglect
Where there is reasonable suspicion or evidence of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.
Legal Requirement
When disclosure is required by a valid court order or other legally binding directive.
Practitioner’s Right to Terminate Services
If a legal demand or court order requires disclosure in a manner that compromises professional boundaries, ethical obligations, or clinical integrity, the practitioner reserves the right to terminate counselling services immediately.
To maintain a safe, unbiased, and effective therapeutic environment, Athulya Counselling Centre follows the privacy and participation guidelines below:
Adult Clients (18+)
Individuals aged 18 years and above are treated as independent adult clients for all clinical, ethical, and legal purposes.
Privacy Belongs to the Client
Confidentiality rights belong exclusively to the person receiving counselling, regardless of who pays for the sessions. Parents, spouses, partners, or relatives are not entitled to access session details, records, or progress updates.
One-to-One Sessions
Adult counselling sessions are private interactions between the practitioner and the client. Family members may participate only when a joint session is specifically recommended by the practitioner.
Communication with Family Members
The clinic does not routinely provide session updates or discuss case details with parents, spouses, or relatives. Information will be shared only when clinically necessary, ethically appropriate, or with the client's consent.
Children & Adolescents (Under 18)
Children Under 13: Parents or legal guardians may receive general updates, progress reports, and recommendations to support the child's wellbeing.
Ages 13-16: To build trust and maintain transparency, any significant clinical discussions involving parents will be conducted in the teenager's presence whenever possible.
Ages 16-17: Confidentiality is handled similarly to adult counselling. Parents will generally receive only limited information unless the adolescent consents.
Safety Exception: If there is an immediate risk to the child's or adolescent's safety, including serious self-harm or suicidal intent, confidentiality may be limited and parents or guardians will be informed as necessary to ensure safety.
To preserve the therapeutic nature of counselling and maintain professional boundaries, our services, assessments, and case records are not intended for use in legal proceedings, civil disputes, criminal matters, divorce cases, or child custody litigation.
Non-Involvement in Legal Proceedings
By engaging our services, you acknowledge that the practitioner is not retained as a forensic expert, legal witness, or evaluator for judicial purposes. Clients and their representatives are requested not to seek practitioner testimony, depositions, or the production of clinical records for legal proceedings, except where required by law.
Court Orders & Legal Compliance
If the practitioner is legally required to comply with a valid court order or other binding legal directive, the practitioner will act in accordance with applicable laws and professional obligations. Any costs incurred in responding to such legal requirements, including administrative, legal, or professional time expenses, may be charged to the client where permitted by law and communicated in advance.
Important Note: Counselling records are maintained solely for therapeutic purposes and should not be considered forensic, investigative, or legal evaluation documents.
Athulya Counselling Service follows strict professional guidelines regarding clinical records, assessments, and documentation.
No Routine Reports or Session Summaries
Clinical updates, session summaries, progress reports, or therapy notes are not routinely issued to clients, family members, employers, or legal representatives for personal, workplace, or legal purposes.
Information Sharing for Medical Care
Where clinically necessary and with appropriate authorization or applicable legal basis, relevant information may be shared with a registered psychiatrist or other treating healthcare professional to support coordinated care and treatment planning.
Internal Clinical Records
Session notes, progress trackers, checklists, and other clinical records are maintained solely for therapeutic and administrative purposes. These records are not intended to serve as forensic evaluations, expert opinions, or legal evidence.
Educational Assessments
Psychological assessments, including cognitive, learning, and educational evaluations, are conducted to support educational planning, remedial interventions, and school-based accommodations. These assessments are not designed or intended for use in legal disputes, custody matters, or litigation proceedings.
Important Note: All clinical documentation and assessment reports are prepared for healthcare and educational purposes only and should not be interpreted as legal, forensic, or judicial evaluations.
Client Responsibility & Personal Choice
Counselling is a collaborative process that supports personal growth and decision-making. Clients retain full responsibility for their own actions, choices, lifestyle decisions, and healthcare decisions during and after therapy. While every effort is made to provide professional guidance and support, outcomes may vary based on individual circumstances.
Not an Emergency or Crisis Service
Athulya Counselling Service operates strictly on a scheduled appointment basis and does not provide 24/7 crisis intervention, emergency psychiatric care, or emergency response services.
If you are experiencing:
Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
